But don’t worry about the debt, those Nice Government Men will take good care of your grandkids’ money. You just let your trusty banker handle your assets and leave it up to those Nice Government Men to look after the money. Oh and don’t try to close your bank account! Little know fact: The banks don’t actually have any cash. Greed decrees they keep no reserves and put everything “to work”. They would lose money leaving cash laying around the vault.

Oh ya, Big Oil and the Saudi Royal Family also thank you. Little known fact: We never needed gasoline in the first place. The first car was invented to run on alcohol. Gasoline wasn’t even available until John D. Rockefeller schemed up a way to get rid of all that toxic waste his buddies had on their hands. So he gave the stuff away until he spent $4 million (that we know of) to promote Prohibition, a ban on alcohol manufacturing in the US. And you probably thought Prohibition had something to do with moral decay in America. Nope, just a ruthless businessman getting rid of the competition.

So what caused this alchemical change? US treasury secretary Hank Paulson spoke about a plan “to deal with bad debt similar to the creation of the Resolution Trust Corporation in 1989 that resolved the US savings & loan crisis.” That caused the market to rally. Now get this: there is no plan. There was no deal. Hank “The Honker” Paulson merely “spoke about” a plan.
